Atmospheric rock / Pančevo, Serbia

About

BY-PASS is an alternative rock band from Pančevo, Serbia, active since the 1990s. Blending heavy guitar riffs, atmospheric passages and electronic elements, the band has developed a distinctive sound somewhere between alternative metal, progressive rock and atmospheric rock.

Their debut album, Psychoactive, was released in 2000 by ITMM. Singles “Odlazi”, “Kasno je” and “Sjaj” brought the band wider attention from both audiences and music media. After a long recording hiatus, BY-PASS returned with their second album, Pustinjom, released by Multimedia Music in 2014 and post-produced and mastered by Geoff Pesche at London’s Abbey Road Studios.

The band’s music was also featured in the Canadian TV series ZOS: Zone of Separation, while Serbian rock band Bjesovi recorded a cover of “Sjaj” for their album of interpretations of songs from the former Yugoslav scene.

After nearly three decades of different line-ups, phases and musical exploration, BY-PASS continues to work on new original material. The new songs build on the band’s characteristic combination of weight and atmosphere while moving towards a more contemporary sound.
